Here’s Why an All-Natural Protein Bar Is a Perfect Choice

When you’re on the hunt for a healthy snack, it can be hard to know what to choose and how to prioritize your food values. For instance, you might be craving something that:

  • Tastes amazing
  • Is super easy to eat on the go
  • Offers a balance of essential nutrients like protein, and
  • Contains wholesome, real food ingredients

If that’s the case, an all-natural protein bar could be the perfect choice!

But what does natural really mean — and how can you find the best protein bar with the right ingredients? Read on and we’ll unwrap all of these questions and more.

What Does All-Natural Really Mean?

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), calling a food item “natural” generally means that “nothing artificial or synthetic (including all color additives regardless of source) has been included in, or has been added to, a food that would not normally be expected to be in that food.”

Perhaps surprisingly, the FDA does not maintain a formal definition or regulate the use of the term “natural” on food product labeling. This means it’s partly up to the consumer to decide whether or not a particular item meets their own standards.

How Can You Spot an All-Natural Protein Bar?

If you’re looking for more evidence that you’ve got an all-natural protein bar in your hands, here are some labels and characteristics to look for:

USDA Certified Organic

A USDA Certified Organic label signals that the ingredients meet the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s requirements for being organic and have not been grown or processed with any synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or additives.

According to the agency, “USDA certified organic foods are grown and processed according to federal guidelines addressing, among many factors, soil quality, animal raising practices, pest and weed control, and use of additives. Organic producers rely on natural substances and physical, mechanical, or biologically based farming methods to the fullest extent possible.”

Non-GMO Project Verified

A non-GMO label means the ingredients aren’t genetically modified organisms (GMOs). In other words, their genes haven’t been tampered with. Foods that are Non-GMO Project Verified have the stamp of approval from the Non-GMO Project. This nonprofit organization helps educate consumers, encourages organic farming methods, and supports supply chains that don’t rely on genetic modification. Certain ingredients are genetically modified to increase crop yields and lower costs, but there’s nothing natural about it. Growing and consuming non-GMO foods is a way to protect ourselves and our environment, and to keep the natural world as natural as possible.

No Artificial Preservatives

A food that’s described as having no artificial preservative tells you that, instead of containing synthetic chemicals to stay fresh, it relies on natural preservative methods and ingredients, such as refrigeration and, in the case of Perfect Snacks, honey. That’s why you’ll often find all-natural ingredients like produce around the fresh perimeter of your local grocery store.

Real, Whole Food Ingredients

Reading through the ingredient list will tell you whether most of them are taken from nature and minimally processed, or if a significant amount of chemical processing has occurred.

For instance, you’ll see “nonfat dry milk” and “honey” on a Perfect Snacks label, but “whey protein isolate” and “sugar alcohol” on other brands’ products. It’s clear that the latter ingredients underwent a lot of chemical wizardry before ending up in your shopping cart.

‘Clean’ Labeling

The label on a clean protein bar will have an ingredient list featuring recognizable, real food ingredients. When you read through it, you’ll notice it contains whole foods and other natural goodness, rather than complex words describing ingredients you can’t really picture in your head.

What Makes an All-Natural Protein Bar a Wholesome Choice?

A pure protein bar that meets the above criteria can be a great addition to your snacking routine. Whether you choose to eat them as breakfast nutrition bars, midday meal replacement options, or post-workout recovery snack bars, natural protein bars have a lot to offer.

Since they’re made with organic natural ingredients, you can feel good about what you’re putting in your system. With Perfect Bar, we went a step further and snuck in a blend of 20+ organic superfood ingredients to help you get a wide variety of important nutrients in just a few bites. If that sounds a little funny from a flavor perspective, just give it a try — you won’t even know they’re in there!

The organic peanut, almond, and cashew butters in Perfect Bar are rich in plant-based protein that will help you stay fuller longer. Plus, the addition of complete proteins from ingredients like eggs and milk means you’re getting all nine essential amino acids. Your body has a much easier time breaking whole food proteins down and absorbing all the good stuff. That means no worrying about a grumbling stomach or a spike and crash in your energy levels. Instead, you can fuel up on an all-natural protein bar and carry on with your day.

Finally, all-natural protein bars can taste incredibly good. Or, in the words of our customers, decadent, heavenly, and oh-so satisfying. We’ve often heard Perfect Snacks fans compare our all-natural protein bar flavors to indulgent chocolate bars and other treats. The big difference is that Perfect Bar is made with whole food ingredients that not only hit the spot but also help you feel great about what you’re eating.

What All-Natural Ingredients Are in Perfect Bar?

Perfect Bar started out as a homemade protein bar — and we haven’t really messed with the recipe. It may have started out with a five-gallon bucket of honey, but we’ve since scaled up. Now, we can make enough of our original Peanut Butter protein bar to share!

What exactly goes into Perfect Bar? Well, each flavor differs slightly, but the process is the same. We start by combining freshly ground nut butters with whole food protein powders like rice, egg, and milk, and our blend of dried superfood ingredients. This gives each all-natural protein bar at least 12 grams of protein. Then, in goes a dollop of organic honey to hold everything together, add a hint of all-natural sugar, and help keep the ingredients fresh.

Finally, we’ll add finishing touches of flavor to each organic protein bar. These include dried fruits, seasonal spices, or a sprinkling of Fair Trade dark chocolate chips to sweeten the deal. We wrap everything up for easy on-the-go snacking and voila — the perfect protein bar! Each bite features a melt-in-your-mouth cookie dough texture, organic natural ingredients, and a whole lotta love.
