With 70 miles of pristine coastline, it’s no surprise that San Diego is a breeding ground for innovation in the water sports category. Perfect Bar Athlete Dustin Fiero, a legacy San Diego City lifeguard, big-wave surfer and, most recently, prone paddleboarder, is a information hub for this growing sport that shares deep roots amongst locals and old school waterman alike. We met up with Dustin just days before The Catalina Classic — a 32-mile paddle-board race, now in its 40th year — to learn more about the sport and how it’s helped shape his passion for adventure in the water.
