Choco-Carob Crumble Donuts

Just when you though you found your “perfect” breakfast, we took this refrigerated protein bar to new heights, using a Carob Chip Perfect Bar for this delectable recipe. With Perfect Bar as the “flour” AND as a crumble, these donuts are made with mindful ingredients that add nutrition to your morning and a taste both chocolate-y and delicious!

Recipe:

for the batter:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ cup coconut sugar
  • 1 Carob Chip Perfect Bar, ground to a flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 1 egg + 1 egg white
  • 2/3 cup almond milk
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil, melted

for the glaze + crumble:

  • ½ cup dark chocolate + 1 Tablespoon coconut oil, melted
  • 1 Carob Chip Perfect Bar, ground to a crumble

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, coconut sugar, ground perfect bar, baking powder and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine almond milk and egg + egg white.
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Add melted coconut oil and mix until smooth.
  6. Grease a donut pan and fill donut pan ¾ full.
  7. Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until toothpick comes clean.
  8. Let donuts cool on a cooling rack.
  9. While donuts cool, make the glaze!
  10. Combine dark chocolate and coconut oil in a bowl – make sure it’s all melted and mix until smooth.
  11. Dip the top of each donut into the glaze and set back on the rack – with a pan underneath to catch the drippings.
  12. Sprinkle the crumble on top of the glaze while it’s still wet – it will get harder!
  13. Place in the fridge to harden the glaze for about 10 minutes.
  14. DEVOUR!!
