During back-to-school time (and pretty much all the time), we take our tunes seriously. A good song, an inspirational talk, or a a few chapters from an audio book can make even the worst days melt away, which makes headphones a hot commodity around here. Fortunately, we found Polk Audio.

Since it was founded in 1972, it’s been Polk Audio’s mission to craft high-quality, great sounding speakers that are accessible to everyone. What makes Polk Audio unique is their dedication to audio engineering and innovation. We checked out two types of headphone products, specific to this month’s back-to-school vibe: the Nue Era and the Wrap.

The Nue Era headphones set features a 5.5 mm dynamic balance driver and uses exclusive Polk Audio materials, technology and micro-diaphragm geometry to deliver immersive headphone performance. That’s right – there’s a whole ton of technology packed into these tiny, fashion-finished headphones.

The ear tips are silicone and memory foam, co-molded to the shape of the headphone ear tube, to enhance passive noise isolation, and contribute to dynamic audio response. Sounds pretty legit, right? Well, as if that wasn’t enough to have us “sold,” it boasts an easy-to-use, in-line 3-button controller with a built-in microphone for intuitive audio and phone control. The lightweight cable with convenient Y junction supports iOS devices and allows you to easily adjust the cable to your needs — on the fly. And, Nue Era’s unique 90 degree connector is gold plated and precision machined to seat deeper in your source connection. Double sold!

We also got our hands on Polk’s BOOM Movement Wrap – an amazingly convenient little contraption, perfect for the adventurer who’s ready for anything. The in-ear headphones have a one-hand control button microphone. They also come with a clip, so you can snap them onto your keychain to ensure you’re geared up with a good set of earbuds wherever you go. The Wrap is also offered at a great price, which makes it a perfect spare to have on hand.
